One question I get a lot is how do I pick which rat is for me? The first thing to know is that personality and good health are the most important part of picking out a rat. Signs of a sick rat are sneezing, bad sounding breathing, being to thinm hunched posture, being listless, discharge from the eyes or nose, diarrhea, being bloated, and wounds. A healthy rat should be active, have good weight, be curious and have a glossy coat. You want your rat to be curious and seem friendly.
Should you go with a male or female? They both make amazing friends. Each have their own personality so please note the following generalizations are just that. Males tend to be bigger when they are fully grown, and generally lazier when they mature. Females usually keep their playfulness as they grow.
